Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport.  – Driving Time: 10 Minutes.

Upon arrival at the airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our driver guide who will then take you to your hotel in Kigali for an overnight and dinner.

Day 2: Visit Kigali Genocide memorial center, later, transfer to Bwindi National Park – Drive Time: 4 Hours

Begin the day with a morning breakfast and then embark on Kigali Genocide Memorial & Museum was created by a joint partnership of the Kigali City Council and the UK-based Aegis Trust. The centre is an extremely moving, challenging, educational and ultimately inspiring as well as a great place to understand the cause, tragedy and successful rebuilding post-genocide.

The memorial hosts a tour which is transparent and educational but very sombre and humbling when guests realise that over 250,000 deceased are buried on the site of the memorial. 

Later, continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Located in south-western Uganda in the north of Rwanda, the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is said to be Africa’s oldest rainforest. It is world-renowned for its excellent gorilla-sighting opportunities – the forest is home to half of the remaining mountain gorillas on earth. This gorilla experience takes place among a rugged landscape of dense jungle, cascading waterfalls, sparkling mountain streams, deep valleys, and steep ridges. The untouched forest has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its breath-taking natural beauty and unique ecological significance, and aside from the amazing gorilla interactions, there are other draw cards such as a network of forest walks, over 340 species of bird to spot, and a variety of 

brightly-coloured butterflies to identify. Don’t miss the opportunity to explore the spectacular Virunga Volcanoes, three of which are still active.

0830: Depart for Kigali Genocide memorial center. 

0900: Visit the Genocide memorial center & city tour.

1230: Lunch in Kigali. 

1330: Transfer to Bwindi. Travel time 4.hrs.

1530: Estimated time to reach on Gatuna border for immigration.

18030: Evening arrival and check in at the Lodge. 

1900: Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 3: Bwindi Gorilla Tracking & Village Visit. 

Wake early for a hearty breakfast to give you the energy needed for gorilla trekking. Before 8:00 am, report to the ranger station for registration and a talk by one of the rangers. The guides will then take you through the bush, pushing your way through the undergrowth, to track the gorillas. (Please note this trek can take from 30 minutes to 5-6 hours). 

A reasonable degree of fitness is required, as well as a sturdy pair of walking shoes. Sit in the forest among the gorillas, listening to them ‘talk’ to one another, and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male, the Silverback. It is an extraordinary feeling sitting in the dense rainforest knowing you are with a few of the last remaining mountain gorillas. It’s amazing to think there are only about 650 of these beautiful creatures left.

The Batwa Experience was created by the displaced Batwa pygmies to educate their children and to share their amazing heritage and traditions with the world. Since 1992, the Batwa have been unable to live in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, their ancestors’ home. Yet they have not forgotten the old ways.

Step back in time to see how the Batwa lived for millennia in the Bwindi, one of the most beautiful jungles on earth and home of the famous mountain gorillas. Enjoy an incredible day hike in the rain forest with Batwa guides, see how the Batwa lived and hunted, learn about medicinal plants, and watch for animals and birds.

0600: Start the day with morning breakfast ready for the day’s gorilla trek

0700: Transfer/walk down to the park headquarters for the gorilla trek 

0800: Start the gorilla trekking adventure in Bwindi. 

1300: Estimated time of returning from the jungle.

1500:  Afternoon Batwa Experience and Batwa Craft Banda. 

1830: Dinner is served at the Lodge.

Day 4: Goodbye Bwindi Impenetrable National Park- Drive to Kigali – Drive Time: 4 Hours

Meal Plan: Breakfast. 

Have breakfast and say goodbye to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, as you prepare to embark on your journey to Rwanda in Kigali for your afternoon flight. This marks the end of our 4 Days Gorilla Trek Uganda via Rwanda.

0830: Drive to back to Rwanda in Kigali airport. 

1000: Estimated time of arriving at Gatuna border for immigration and then embark on road to Kigali.
